Arcane Reverie.

Arcane Reverie was inspired by the idea of occult magic and Lovecraftian horror. I wanted to incorporate symbols from occultism such as a demon summoning circle, and have it appear to be summoning some sort of Lovecraftian Elder God. I wanted to use deep purples, blues, and reds, as the juxtaposition of the blue and red against the purple created a unique visual effect. I was able to experiment with visual mixing by creating the purple with the red and blue yarn, and not only did this look interesting, but it harkens back to the mixing of potions in magic and witchcraft.

The duster was given a dramatic silhouette; the long coat against the short bodysuit created a stark contrast, and witchcraft is all about juxtaposition and breaking social norms. This juxtaposition was further heightened by the sudden difference in color themes. The purples and dark colors of the duster give way to a bright pop of red: the blood beneath the surface. The motifs on the body suit were developed with the idea of horror and fear - the eyes are always watching. The octopus motifs on the duster were inspired by the idea of Lovecraftian horror. The various themes combined into a dramatic final effect.
